Efit of the wanted man
Eleven-year-old Paris Wade, from Littleborough, and her mum Kim are worried for her own safety after she was approached by a man on Whalley Avenue, Littleborough.
Paris recognises the man who approached her from an efit released by the police after the man approached a ten-year-old girl in Middleton.
Paris was approached by the man in his car on Saturday 11 January when she was out walking the family dog.
Paris’s mum, Kim Wade said: “She hasn’t slept since Saturday and she said to me the other day, can the dog sleep with me so I am safe.”
The man, who was on the opposite side of the road to Paris, began to beckon her over. Paris heard the man shouting but ignored him. The man then continued to beckon Paris. Paris then decided to walk away but the man turned on his engine so Paris began to run.
“I had to spend a lot of time calming her down when she got home,” added Kim.
Paris also described the man exactly how the current efit released by police describes him. “I showed her the efit this morning when it was released and she went pale. It was exactly the same as how she described him,” said Kim.
The police were contacted regarding the incident soon after it happened. Kim then received a text message from the police confirming their phone conversation. An appointment was then made for the police to visit Paris on Monday 13 January between 4pm and 8pm.
It got to 9pm on Monday evening and the police still hadn’t been to visit the family. “We got a phone call at 9pm from the police apologising about missing the appointment. They said they were in Burnley and got held up.”
A new appointment was arranged by the police and they visited Paris and Kim yesterday evening (Tuesday 14 January).
Kim added: “It just angers me that it took so long. We just want him found.”
Paris, who attends St Andrew's school in Dearnley, is still shook up about the incident, as is Kim.
“I am on edge now when she is walking home from school because I just don’t know what is going on,” said Kim.
Police have confirmed the report and said: “We can confirm we received reports of a man acting suspiciously in the area. Enquiries are currently ongoing.”
