Inspiring Citizen of the Year finalists chosen

Chris Marland and Sue Pickup have been chosen as the finalists for the Greater Manchester Police Rochdale North Inspiring Citizen of the Year Award.

Chris, a member of Rochdale Youth Cabinet, has been involved in consultation events with the Council, NHS, Voice of the Child DVD working with Greater Manchester Safeguarding Board and is involved with Youthforia – UK Youth Parliament North West Regional Youth Forum. He took part in Interview panels for Director and Deputy Director of Children's Social Care. He was involved with the Commissioning Panel for the contract to deliver young people’s Drug and Alcohol services in the Borough and raising awareness of the importance of young people having a voice.

Sue, Head Chef at Meanwood Primary School, has worked for Meanwood County Primary School for almost 23 years first starting out as a Welfare Lady, before becoming head chef at the school. She is noted for her pleasant and positive nature and has served approximately 3.5 million school meals and has become an integral member of staff that the children respond to well and her positivity is said to radiate throughout the school. Sue always goes that extra mile to help others and to bring fun and positivity to those around her. The Special Educational Needs Class has described Sue as delightful, wonderful and kind and this has also been recognised by PCSOs who visit the school on formal occasions when she offers them tea and toast.

The winner of the award will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held on Thursday 16 January.
