Donate unwanted Christmas food to Rochdale Foodbank

Date published: 03 January 2014

Residents of the borough are being urged to donate any surplus food from Christmas celebrations to Rochdale Foodbank. Instead of throwing away food that is still in date, the Foodbank would be delighted to receive the food for distribution to those in need.

Chairman of Trustees at Rochdale Foodbank, Iain Wight said: “We are happy to accept any food which is unopened and in date. We would even take things like mince pies and Christmas puddings.”

Rochdale Foodbank has been helping people in Rochdale for just over a year and is in demand throughout the whole year.

Mr Wight added: “We would even stock things like cheese at this time of year if people are thinking of just getting rid of it simply because there is such a demand for food.”

Donations can be taken directly to the foodbank which is located at 9-10 South Parade, Rochdale between 11am and 1pm, Monday to Friday.

Collections can be arranged by phoning David Hill on 07922 658346.

For food to be donated to the foodbank it must be unopened and in date.
