65-year-old woman suffers serious injury after being knocked over by shoplifter

A woman has been left with serious injuries after a shoplifter knocked her over.
At 11.45am on Monday 30 December 2013, a man went into Boots on Market Way in Rochdale, took an item from the shelf and put it in his bag.
He ran from the shop and collided with a 65-year-old woman causing her to fall to the floor. She suffered a broken leg and was taken to hospital where she remains for treatment.
A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and theft and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Police Sergeant Gaz Davies said: “The offender showed no regard for anyone else in a desperate attempt to escape. In the process he has knocked over a woman causing her serious injuries.”
