Carol Hartley
Carol Hartley, of Heywood, has been awarded the Medallist of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year's Honours.
Carol has been given the honour for 'charitable services to Children in Eastern Europe and to the community in Heywood'.
She is the co-ordinator of the Rochdale branch of the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child appeal, which sends shoeboxes full of goods to orphans in Belarus and other poor parts of the world.
She also set up The Belarus Fund, helping orphaned children in Belarus, and the Borivos Abandoned Babies Home with friends.
Caorl is a former winner of the Rochdale Woman of the Year having picked that honour up in 2012.
