Soup kitchen at the Flying Horse

Date published: 29 December 2013

The Flying Horse Hotel in Rochdale town centre held its second annual soup kitchen and clothing gift shop on Friday (27 December).

Volunteers handed out food and warm clothes to those in need.

Such was the response from kind-hearted Rochdalians wanting show what a great community spirit the town still has, there were more volunteers than people in need.

Patricia Boothman said: "Thank you to all the people who helped out, the response was amazing, and also the people who donated, it was very humbling to see how many people who really wanted to make a difference."

It is understood food and clothes left over - 40+ blacks bags of clothes, 20 shoe boxes full of toiletries, hats, socks and chocolate and three large boxes of food - is being donated to The Salvation Army and Petrus, along with a cheque donated by First Bus Company.
