Linda Fisher presents a cheque to Lille Winterbottom from Springhill Hospice and Kirsty Rhodes from Women’s Housing Action
‘Number One Riverside – Giving Back’ a new charity set up by staff at Rochdale Borough Council presented a cheque for £2,800 to Springhill Hospice and Women’s Housing Action Group this week.
The money, to be split equally between the two, was raised at a star studded Masquerade Ball held at Rochdale Town Hall, the launchpad for the charity created to raise money for local causes.
Chairwoman of the Charity, Linda Fisher presented the cheque and said they have exciting plans in 2014: “People have already asked if we will stage another ball so we are looking at that, but we have a number of other ideas which I am looking forward to sharing with everyone.”
Kirsty Rhodes, Managing Director of Women’s Housing Action Group, a charitable organisation founded in 1981 to offer housing and support to vulnerable women said:
“The money raised will contribute to maintaining our vital support services … your help is appreciated by everyone, thank you.”
Lillie Winterbottom received the cheque on behalf of Springhill Hospice and said it was a fantastic event:
“We are very grateful and pleased to be involved with the ball … and this kind donation will be a much needed boost to our funds.”
The ball was organised by ‘Number One Riverside – Giving Back’ with support from over 25 local businesses including JD Alexander Jewellers, Dolly Birds Beauty Salon, Stage Sound and Light Ltd, Treat Yourself Boutique, Gregory Couzens and Number 10 Gift Shop & Gallery.
Celebrity guests included Coronation Street stars Kym Marsh and Antony Cotton.
