Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary receive artwork from students

Date published: 21 December 2013

Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary has received hand painted drawings from students at Hopwood Hall College to be displayed in the sanctuary.

The drawings, which are of six male puppies and one female puppy, were originally designed for the puppy isolation room.

Jay Fletcher, Trustee of the sanctuary said: “One of our volunteers said she would speak to some pupils at Hopwood Hall and it went from there really.”

Jay then invited the pupils to design the artwork after they paid a visit to the sanctuary. Pupils who are studying fine art designed and painted the drawings in their own time and provided the materials themselves.

Upon seeing the drawings, Jay has deemed them too good to go in their planned space. She said: “They are just too good to go in the
puppy room so they will be going in the café for everyone to see.”

The paintings have been created with acrylic paints and sealed with a varnish to give them a strong finish.

Jay added: “The drawings are fabulous. We are really pleased with them.”

Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary relies on the work, support and donations of volunteers to run. The sanctuary looks after animals and aims to re-house as many as possible.

It is now hoped that the students will re visit the sanctuary in the New Year to see their drawings on display.
