Road traffic victim named as Roger Davis

The man who died following a collision with a car last night (Thursday 20 December) has been named as 76-year-old Roger Davis from Milnrow Road, Littleborough.

Mr Davis was in collision with a silver Vauxhall Astra on Milnrow Road/Wildhouse Lane near to the junction with Dale View.

He died of his injuries at the scene.

In a statement, Roger's family paid the following tribute: "Roger was a loving, strong husband, father and grandfather. We will miss him with all our hearts."

Senior Investigating Officer, Police Sergeant Lee Westhead said: "An investigation into the circumstances of this tragic collision has now been launched by a team of specialist officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

"Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Davis at this very difficult time. They are being supported by one of our family liaison officers."

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses, and anyone who can help is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741.
