Blue Rose Gifts and Balloons in Heywood were presented with a cheque by Mayor Peter Rush on Saturday 14 December after being chosen as the winner of the Heywood Christmas parade.
The parade saw Blue Rose Gifts and Balloons with Perfect Image Studio enter a four foot float. The float was decorated with balloon reindeers, balloon trees, a sleigh, Christmas music and children. Dave Kilcourse from Perfect Image Studio said: “It was
definitely very Christmassy.”
Reflecting on the win, Dave said: “Everyone in the shop is pleased that we won. It was a combined effort between Blue Rose Gifts and Perfect Image Studio and we work hard at any charity events we do.”
The shop found out last week that they had been chosen as the winners of the parade and met with Mayor Rush on Saturday.
Mayor Rush said: “Blue Rose Gifts is a business that is good for Heywood. It is a jewel in the crown that provides balloons and cards for all occasions. They are a credit to the town and credit should be given to those who run the shop. Blue Rose Gifts is a credit to Heywood.”
The team at Blue Rose Gifts and Balloons will now put their prize winnings back into the business. “I think we will just churn it all back into the business,” said Dave.
Blue Rose Gifts and Balloons opened their new extended store in 2012 when the Olympic Torch passed through Heywood. The shop sells a variety of products including personalised gifts and balloons.
After being chosen as winners of the parade, the team at Blue Rose Gifts and Balloons are now ending the year on a positive note. Dave added: “It is a good way to end the year. We do a lot of charity events so it is nice to get some recognition for all of the hard work that we do.”
