Man charged with murder of his mother

A man has been charged with the murder of his 64-year-old mother, Glennis Brierley, in Littleborough.
Matthew Brierley (born 12/11/1968) of Calf Hey, Littleborough, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Bury Magistrates Court on Tuesday 17 December 2013.
Shortly before midnight on Saturday 14 December 2013, police received a call from a public telephone reporting that a woman had been killed at a house on Calf Hey, Shore Road, Littleborough.
Officers attended and discovered the body of a 64-year-old woman, who has now been formally identified as Glennis Brierley.
A post mortem concluded she died after being stabbed.
