Murder in Littleborough

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police have confirmed they were called to an incident at Calf Hey, Shore, Littleborough.
Officers attended and discovered the body of a 64-year-old woman.
The woman has not been formally identified and a post mortem to establish the cause of death is yet to take place however she was discovered with visible stab injuries.
About 8am this morning, Sunday 15 December 2013, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
Superintendent Chris Hankinson, said: “This woman has been murdered in her own home and our focus is on ensuring justice is done and the perpetrator is brought to justice.
“We were able to act swiftly this morning and make an arrest but clearly there is still a lot of work to be done and I would ask anyone with information that could assist our investigation to come forward.
“The Littleborough community will no doubt be shocked by what has gone on and we will have officers in the area to speak to anyone should they want to talk to us.
"I also want to reassure them and the wider public of Greater Manchester that we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this woman's murder."
