Staff raised £300 for charity with a meal and quiz
Generous Rochdale Borough Council employees joined in with the season of goodwill and thinking of others first by raising £300 for charity with a Yuletide lunch.
At the party on Friday 5 December organised by the Riverside Charity Committee, more than 90 members of staff turned their backs on tucking into turkey and instead feasted on home made meat and potato pie, or cheese and onion pie, with peas, followed by mince pies.
Linda Fisher, Deputy Chief Executive of Rochdale Borough Council, and leader of the charity, said: “Staff had a festive time on Friday and said that it was nice to take time out from work, to have a chat and to get to know people in other teams.”
Business support manager and organiser of the party Pat Higgins said: “There was a relaxed and happy atmosphere and positive feedback suggests we should hold another one next year. Many thanks to all those who attended and to those who made it possible.”
