Many thanks to all the students and staff who donated for the recent Shoebox Appeal. We were impressed with the number of boxes we filled and hope that they make a positive difference to people in challenging areas around the world.

Well done to Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 Music student who performed at Gordon Riggs garden centre this week. Learners played a range of popular and seasonal songs to the shoppers and received some lovely feedback. Many thank to families who came along to support the event.

Thanks to the students who went to the Grizedale Forest visit last Saturday when learners from Years 7, 10 and 11 took time out to stroll through the forest in the Lake District and photograph the range of contemporary sculptures. The day proved to be favourable in terms of the weather and everyone had a lovely time.

Letters for a forthcoming CALL visit to Chatsworth House have now been issued to Year 7 students and we hope to take a group on Friday 13th December in order to enjoy the promenade display of C.S. Lewis ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ in the famous house. Letters are available from Mr DeCourcey in the CEPA Office and places are strictly limited.

Mr Mvula’s BTEC Drama class start their workshops with Oldham Coliseum as part of our commitment to the Andrew Lloyd Webber partnership. This will lead to a showcase by our students later in the year. More details can be obtained by contacting Mr Mvula directly in school. The project will form a key part of learner assessments.

Students should now be busy in their commitment to Individual Arts Award challenges if they are studying Arts Award Silver or Gold at key stage 4. Leaners must continue to add evidence to their portfolios and keep a record of all the visits and events they attend. For more details, please contact Mr DeCourcey, Ms Williams, Ms Wystawnoha or Mr Mvula.

Many thanks to all the students and families who inundated us with their demands for postcard sets of the old school building. We have sold over 60 sets of postcards this week. Copies of the images are now available online at our school website and via Rochdale online. We hope to make a small archive of further images available shortly.

Many thanks to Spotland primary School who joined us for a Japanese Tatebanko Workshop this week. Learners learnt about the Japanese art of paper diorama making and then made their own models. Many thanks to all the staff and students of Spotland primary who came along for the sessions led by Mr DeCourcey.
