Treats in store for those who shop local this Christmas

Date published: 05 December 2013

Consumers across Rochdale borough are being urged to shop local for the chance to win a festive prize and support small businesses at the same time.

To mark Small Business Saturday (7 December), shopping crawls have been launched which celebrate the best of the independent shops across the borough.

Readers can take part by downloading the leaflet on this page (see below) and collecting a sticker from ten of the businesses listed within; no purchase is necessary.

Once all the stickers have been collected, shoppers can hand their decorated tree in with their name and address.

Shoppers in Rochdale can hand their decorated tree into the Feel Good Café on Yorkshire Street. They will then receive a chocolate treat and certificate and be entered into a prize draw to win an M&S hamper.

Shoppers in Pennines can hand their decorated tree into Smithybridge, Milnrow, Littleborough or Smallbridge Library to be entered into a prize draw to win a £25 Co-operative voucher.

Shoppers in Heywood can hand their decorated tree into Tilly’s tearooms, inside Mike Goldrick’s, on Dawson Street. They will then receive a chocolate treat and certificate and be entered into a prize draw to win £25 worth of Morrison’s vouchers.

Shoppers in Middleton can hand their decorated tree into the information desk in Middleton shopping centre. They will then receive a chocolate treat and certificate and be entered into a prize draw to win £25 worth of Tesco vouchers.

Readers can also pick up shopping crawl leaflets from all of the independent shops taking part in the campaign.

All completed forms need to be returned by 5pm on Saturday 21 December. The winner will be contacted on Monday 23 December.
