Road users in the North West are being advised to check the weather forecast and road conditions before they travel tomorrow (5 December), as strong winds are forecast.
As a result of the forecast, the Highways Agency has issued a Severe Weather Alert for high-sided vehicles, caravans, motorbikes and other vulnerable road users, which are advised to take extra care when travelling due to the increased risk of vehicles being blown over.
The Highways Agency, which is responsible for motorways and other major roads in England, is working closely with the Met Office to monitor the weather conditions, maintain safe roads and reliable journeys.
Road users are advised to plan for their journey before they set out by checking the forecast and road conditions and to leave extra time if travel conditions are poor, or to delay their journey if the weather becomes severe.
