Rochdale Environmental Action Group elections

Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) held its election on Saturday 30 November, 2013, at Castlemere Community Centre, Tweedale Street, Rochdale. The following officers were elected:

  • Chairperson Christine Mathewson
  • Vice Chairperson Caroline Lucas
  • Secretary Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE
  • Treasurer Naeem Khan
  • Neighbourhood Liaison Sister Noel
  • Publicity Secretary George Lee

Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer submitted their reports for 2012-13
The REAG was set up in June,2012.

The aim and objectives are to improve the environment of the Borough of Rochdale in co-operation with the Environment Services of the Rochdale Council, organisations, mosques, churches, schools, businesses , Crescent Community Radio and residents.

Members of the Group meet every Saturday at 10.00am outside Castlemere Community Centre or where they decide to go and clean the roads and streets of the borough of Rochdale.

During the last year, the members of REAG have contributed more than 2,000 volunteer hours and collected more than 1,700 bags.

REAG thanked Environment Services, ward councillors, mosques, churches, businesses, Crescent Community Radio and the residents for their continued support and assured them that they will continue to improve the environment of the Borough of Rochdale.
