Community Fund

Thank you to everyone who voted for us – we came first and won £3,000 Community Fund to develop our school pond area. Many thanks, once again, to Harry and Matthew Brown’s mum for nominating us.

Animal Heroes

Mrs. Coxell and Mrs. Farrall are going to London for the final of the Animal Hero Awards which will be hosted by Amanda Holden.We are in the final 3 for the Public Sector Contribution of the Year with Maco and Joop, our rescue donkeys.

Winter Fair

Thank you for all your help and support at the Winter Fair. We raised just short of £1,000 which will go back into school funds for the benefit of all children.

Donations

We would like to say a big thank you to all those people who sent in donations for our raffle. We would also like to thank the following companies for their support and generous donations:

Swimming Training

Years 5/6 swimming training is on Friday mornings. Children need to be at Castleton baths for 8.30am.

Give Nature a Home

The competition to design and make a cardboard bird house closes on 6 December – we have had some fantastic entries so far. If you would like a template, please let the school office know. Prizes will be awarded from the RSPB.

Christmas Productions

Reception – Thursday 5 December at 2pm. Tickets are limited to 2 per family – young children are allowed at the performance but will count as one of your places. Please fill in the slip on the back of the newsletter to order tickets and return it to your child’s class teacherasap – tickets will be sent home on Friday.

Years 1& 2 – Tuesday 10 December at 2pm. Wednesday 11 December 6pm. Tickets are limited to 2 per family – young children are allowed at the 2pm performance only and will count as one of your places. Please fill in the slip on the back of the newsletter to order tickets and return it to your child’s class teacher asap.

Year 6 Victorian Music Hall – Monday 16 December 6.30pm.

Senior Citizens/Grandparents

On 12th December, grandparents and senior citizens in our community are invited to come to school for Christmas lunch at 1.30pm followed byperformances by Year 1 & 2 and 6 children. The choir will also be performing.There is a slip on the back of the newsletter to book places – 2 places per child.

Christingle Service

The whole school will be walking to St. Martin’s Church on Friday 13 December for a service at 10.30pm. We will be leaving school at 10am if any parents would like to join us.

St. Martin’s Church

St. Martin’s Church are holding a Christingle Quiz on Friday 20 December at 7pm.
The Carol Service is on Sunday 22 December at 6.30pm.

Music Lessons

Please make sure children have their instruments with them.
Guitar – Monday morning
Cornet – Wednesday lunchtime
Lessons are £2.85 per week and need to be paid for either on a weekly basis or half-termly in order for children to continue to have lessons. Thank you.

School Assembly

You are welcome to come and watch your child in their class assembly. Class 6C is on Tues 14 January at 1.20pm. Class 6G is on Tues 21 January at 1.20pm. Class 3G is on Tues 28 January and Class 3L is on Tues 4 February at 1.20pm.
Well done to all the classes who have already had their assemblies – the children and class teachers have all worked really hard.

Dinner Money

Dinner money is now £1.90 per day - £9.50 per week. Money needs to be paid either weekly in advance on a Monday morning or on a daily basis.
Our menus are on a three-weekly cycle and next week we will be on Week 1.
