Rochdale Exchange gets ‘glam’ for Christmas

Date published: 28 November 2013

Christmas shoppers got  useful styling tips and beauty treats last Saturday 23 November at Rochdale Exchange’s Glam-a-thon event.

The non-stop Glam-a-thon event took place between 10:30 and 3:30pm on Saturday and was spearheaded by Beales Department store.

Short catwalk fashion shows held throughout the day were complemented for the first time by a Beauty Bar where styling tips and give-aways were on tap.

Ladies were able to watch hair and make-up demonstrations from Clinique, No.7 at Boots, KK Nails and Gregory Couzens. Clothes and accessories were provided by Quiz, Krisp and Warren James for women and River Island, Officer’s Club and Butterworths of Rochdale for men all modelled by local people.

Keith Rudman, Department Store Manager for Beales said: “This was a great opportunity for people in Rochdale to get some ideas on how to get glam for the Christmas party season.

"It’s a busy time of year and we thought we’d help make it easier by showing our customers that dressing up doesn’t need to be hard work, it can even be fun.

"Everything showcased on the models is available here locally in Rochdale and we wanted to celebrate the quality and variety that can be found here.”

Parents were also able to take their children to meet Santa whilst enjoying a mince pie and other seasonal goodies that were provided by Hampsons Bakers and Holland and Barrett.

Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre’s Christmas Grotto is being operated by Rochdale Lions with all the proceeds this year going help the charity to enable parents of disabled children to have respite holidays and care.
