Man has multiple injuries following axe attack in Heywood

A man is in hospital with serious multiple injuries after being attacked with an axe and a baseball bat.
It is understood fighting broke out in a queue at Sunny's Chippy, Manchester Street, Heywood and the 39-year-old man was attacked with a baseball bat and an axe by two males wearing balaclavas.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police has confirmed the incident occurred at 6.20pm last night, Sunday 24 November. He said: "The man has serious multiple injuries, including a possible broken leg. We are not sure at this stage if the man's injuries are life threatening."
Police remain at the scene.
