Ellen Gold raises money for cancer charity

Date published: 24 November 2013

Ellen Gold held a tea party to raise money for HaTS (Haematology and Transplant Support), as a way to say thank you for the help she received when battling leukaemia.

The tea party, at Littleborough Cricket Club, included food and drink and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

Ellen said: "The donations have been fantastic and it really shows the generosity of people."

Ellen decided on the event, as she wanted to do something fun as a way of raising money. She said: "It seemed like the easiest way for people to have fun and have a nice afternoon."

HaTS is a charity, which aims to provide and improve the support and care provided to patients and families of the Haematology and Transplant unit at The Christie.

Ellen said: "I just wanted to say thank you and this seemed like a good way."

Ellen has battled Leukaemia twice since 2009 and understands how important the work of HaTS is.

"It has been a lovely event and has included everyone from family and friends to work colleagues,” added Ellen.

Currently, Ellen has no more plans for fundraising events but would like to do more in the future. "I have nothing planned at the minute but I was thinking of
doing something every year but I'm not sure yet," said Ellen.

"The spirit and generosity of everyone has been overwhelming. I can't thank them enough."
