Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 22 November 2013

On Friday morning a number of our Year 5 children joined with children from Moorhouse Primary School for their first reading university session. The IPLCN Schools have developed the reading university to provide additional opportunities for the more able readers in our school. Thank you to Miss Bradshaw for organising this event.

We continue to work on further developing provision for the more able pupils. Staff will be receiving further training this week for the Level 6 Maths Test. This will enable us to further support the most able children in maths to realise their potential by the end of Year 6.

Mrs Hoyle, Mr Khan and Mrs Smith are part of a Lesson Study Project with Edge Hill University. They will be working together again this week to further develop practice across Key Stage 2. This continues to be a brilliant way of teachers learning from each other.

Thank you to those of you who joined us on Monday for the website briefing. As you know our new school website will go live next Monday 25 November. Please do log on to www.hamerprimary.co.uk to find out what is happening at Hamer.

Your donations raised £125.00 at the recent Harvest/Eid Festival. We will let you know which charity this will be gifted to.

On Tuesday our Year 6 Community Cohesion Ambassadors worked with pupils from Marland Hill School and students from Rochdale Sixth Form College. We were also joined by a Community Archaeologist and the Police. As ever our children were brilliant Ambassadors for our school community,
