Falinge Park High School

Many thanks to all the parents, families and friends who came along to our Arts and Curry Night this week. The evening featured a range of student performances, enjoyable food and various quiz rounds. We hope you had a pleasant time as we say farewell to our old building very soon.

Year 10 Drama students are about have their work presented in the 'Truth About Youth' Royal Exchange Theatre 'Future Worlds' Project. Work by our students is on display in the theatre over the next few weeks. We hope that parents and families can get along to see the exhibition as the pieces are of such an impressive standard.

We are delighted to announce that our Art students are the runners-up in the Ivor Hoarding Competition from the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Learners involved in the process will receive further news shortly.

Art Award learners who require rehearsal space or simply space to complete visual art tasks are free to book rooms in the CEPA Faculty after school. For more details, please contact Mr De Courcey or your Arts Award teacher. Learners who require support with the loan of resources or equipment should also make contact urgently. It is important that students complete weekly progress reports for their Arts Challenge and evidence the process of creative development.

Can students from last year who still wish to collect their Art work do so as a matter of urgency now before we move into our new building.

Year 11 Student Information Evening takes place next week and Year 11 learners have been issued with sheets to make appointments. If you have any further enquiries about the evening, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Barlow and Ms Skerrow.

Learners have recently been involved in the update of our biometric data archives ready for our move into our new building. If you were absent during this process and still need to have your fingerprints scanned into our system then please speak to members of Pupil Reception this week.

Learners in all our communities have been collecting items for the annual 'Shoebox Appeal'. Tutor groups have been issued with boxes and groups have specified who their box is intended for. Please try to help support this venture by bringing in items from home. Your tutor should outline acceptable items for the boxes. Many thanks to anyone who has returned items for their community group so far.

Many thanks to all families who returned their Student Study Support Centre slips this week via their tutor groups. The returned slips go some way in helping us acquire additional funding and your support is much appreciated.

We still have lots of lost property items in school. Please could you ask your child to go to the Upper Year Centre at lunchtimes if they have lost anything.
Lost property items will shortly be being disposed of. Please could you also ensure that your child’s PE kit has their name clearly labelled in it.

The Gymphlex store is now available online to purchase any additional or replacement items of the new school PE kit. Visit the site at www.gforcesportswear.co.uk/my-shop.
