Fundraising at Beech House

Date published: 20 November 2013

Year 9 held a fundraising event for Children in Need to sponsor a child in Africa. They did nail painting, a raffle and a bake sale. The amount they raised from nail painting alone was £23.

The raffle raised a further £15, and the bake sale £19. Altogether they raised £47.

The people who were involved were Zahra Naqvi, Grace Pedley, Olivia Rigg, Adil Hussain, Sam Clutton, Umair Ahmad, Jake Kendall and Haider Hussain. It was a lot of fun.

The raffle winners are:

1. Alex Roebuck Year 5
2. Talha Mazhar Year 8
3. Emily Kershaw Year 7
4. Miss McGeoghegan
5. Deazel Fairhurst Year 7
6. Pippa Coale Year 8
7. Emily Kershaw Year 7

Year 7 pupils went to view the exhibition ‘People’s Art’ at Touchstones. This is a popular annual open exhibition for new and established artists, both amateur and professional, who live or work in the Borough of Rochdale. The visit proved to be very inspiring, as the pupils were learning about a local artist. They were able to view works from all age ranges, talents and from various backgrounds. This visit also linked well with the current unit ‘Self-Image’.

We have managed to secure the services of a Pilates teacher who is able to offer her classes at a reduced rate. These will take place on Thursdays from 4pm – 5pm in the Sports Hall. They will start on Thursday 9 January 2014.

Beech House travelled to Kingsway Park High School this week to compete in the ESFA 5-a-side tournament. The boys acquitted themselves well in all games and were a credit to the school. Well done, boys.

The scores were:
