Funds needed to purchase wheelchair accessible roundabout

Redwood School, Rochdale is trying to raise funds to purchase a wheelchair accessible roundabout for 60 students in wheelchairs or with mobility aids to use throughout the day and in their after school clubs. The mobility impaired students will be able to use the roundabout with their friends who can walk unaided.

The roundabout would also be used by special needs students across the area who access Redwood School youth clubs and holidays clubs during the year. In the last year approximately 135 children attended these activities.

The school has been raising money since June 2011 to buy the wheelchair roundabout and to date have raised approximately £2,500 towards the overall cost of £8,000.

A Christmas Fair is being on 4 December to raise money for the project and the school is seeking cash donations or the offer of goods which can be put into a grand raffle, tombola or sold on one of the stalls. The school is happy to arrange for the collection of any items.
