RBH Supported Housing Team wins national award

Date published: 19 November 2013

The Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) supported housing team is celebrating after being named "Care and Support Provider of the Year" at the 24 Housing awards.

The award recognises the hard work and dedication of RBH employees and tenant volunteers.

The judges said they were particularly impressed with how the team ensures that tenants have an active input into how services are delivered, and noted the "huge value" added by the RBH warden team - wardens work to provide support to tenants in their own homes.

They also noted the emphasis on staying healthy, and the funding secured for an activities co-ordinator through the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Peter Smith, RBH Support and Independence Manager, said: “We are very pleased to be recognised with this very prestigious award. The award reflects the dedication of our employees across the service to provide the best support for our tenants. It also reflects the importance of using the latest assistive technology to help us support our tenants and the important role tenants play in helping us shape our services.”

The RBH supported housing team makes sure that tenants are involved through quarterly meetings with tenant representatives at the Sheltered Housing in Partnership (SHiP) panel.

Pat Hull, RBH tenant member of the Representative Body and a member of SHiP, said:
"Tenants greatly value the input that we have through the Sheltered Housing in Partnership meetings.

"Well done to all the team - it couldn’t be more deserved."
