Reaction to the new bus station has been positive amongst users after its official opening on Sunday (17 November).

Wendy Goodwin had nothing but praise for the new bus station. She said: “It is great. It is modern, it has all the information about the buses, a shop, toilets, a cash machine – it has everything.”

Yvonne Morgan added: “This is the first time I have been in it but it looks very nice. It’s great.”

James Smith described the bus station as “fantastic”. He said: “It’s fantastic. It is a lot warmer for the winter and is much better than the old one.”

Catherine Wright said: “It’s nice. It looks better than the other one and is better for Rochdale.”

Peter Evans said: “It’s smart and spacious and there is less draft in this one. There is a lot more light in this one as well.”

Mr Gartside said: “It looks nice. It’s nice and spacious and is a major improvement on the old one. Anything would be better than the old one.”

John Johnstone said: “It is friendly and warm and there is a lot more security. This is good for the town.”

Joe Johnstone added: “I like it. It’s something different and is definitely better than the old one.”

The station, which is located on Smith Street, provides enhanced facilities and improved safety for passengers.

The new facility replaces the old bus station which was built in 1978.
