Boy threatened and robbed

Date published: 15 November 2013

A 13-year-old boy was threatened and robbed in Middleton.

At around 6.15pm on Wednesday 6 November 2013, the boy was with a group of his friends at Limefield Park in Middleton when he was approached by two boys in their mid-teens

One of them asked which one of the group had beaten up his brother and stolen his phone and when they denied it, they threatened the teenager and stole his phone.

Both walked off in the direction of Langley.

One of them is described as being white, around 16, 5ft 5in tall, of slim build, spoke with a local accent and wore a dark grey tracksuit with a black bubble jacket over the top. He wore a snood that covered his nose and mouth and a home-made balaclava.

The second was white, around 16, 6ft tall, of slim build and lanky appearance. He wore a light grey Adidas tracksuit with the hood up and had short dark hair.

Police Constable Chris Hickey from Middleton Police Station said: “From what we have been told, one of the offenders was carrying a knife so understandably , the children have been terrified.

“I would ask anyone who may have been in the near to the leisure centre or witnessed the robbery itself to phone police. If you did see something suspicious, please phone us on 0161 856 8533 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
