Wardle Academy Youth Band have performed this week at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Music for Youth’s School’s (MfY) Proms 2013.

The band performed in the MfY National Festival in July and, after a fantastic performance, was invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

On Tuesday 12 November the band, conducted by Mr Lee Rigg, opened the School’s Prom with a performance of Old 100th by Vaughan Williams before performing Toccata from Suite Gothique by Léon Boëllmann.

Janet Emsley said: "This is the fourth time since 2000 that a band from our school has performed at the Royal Albert Hall.

"They gave a fabulous performance which was well-received by the capacity audience, it was a fantastic experience for the young people who were, as always, brilliant ambassadors for Rochdale."
