Shakespeare Festival
Date published: 14 November 2013
Students from Siddal Moor attended a Shakespeare Festival at the Bolton Octagon, which was performance in the round, a completely new experience for our pupils.
Students from Siddal Moor performance was based on The Winter's Tale.
Other schools involved were, Canon Slade Sixth Form, Standish Community High School and Walton Le Dale High School.
The founder of the Shakespeare School's Festival Chris Grace said: "It was a difficult play, you had an intriguing start and established characters. The play was really well depicted and I thought the acting was superb. You worked so hard at this. Your students clearly understood the text."
Mrs Lees the Students Drama teacher said some memorable moments from the day were the sheep shearing scene with the stuffed sheep and the bunting being handed out to the audience.
Harry Thorpe with his 'Artful Dodger/Delboy' inspired Autolycus was more than memorable.
Dylan Wood’s and Millicent Wilde's performances were exceptional seeing as they had never performed on stage before.
Also special mention needs to go to ShaniceMeerally and Bailey McNevin-Duff who took over parts three weeks before the performance and were outstanding.
