Man of Rochdale winner chosen

Date published: 13 November 2013

The winner of the nineteenth annual Man of Rochdale award has been chosen.

“As always, it was not an easy decision”, said Chairman Robert Clegg. “Over thirty nominations were received.”

But after deliberating over lunch, the Committee have decided on their man. To have been nominated, the man must have given freely of his time to improve the lives of others, and must live or work in Rochdale.

The retiring Man of Rochdale, Norman Wellens joined the committee for the 2013 Man of Rochdale, and said it was “very interesting” and “good to see the other side of the process.”

The winner of the accolade for 2013 is a tightly kept secret that only the Committee know, and will be revealed at the annual Men of Rochdale Luncheon on Friday 29 November at Rochdale Town Hall.

The luncheon starts with a beer reception at 1.00p.m. All proceeds go to Springhill Hospice.

Tickets are available from the Fundraising Office at Springhill Hospice, Rochdale, 01706 649920 priced at £37.00 each including a four course meal and entertainment from after dinner speaker and Springhill Hospice Patron Norman Prince.
