Rochdale-based REstore has won £10,000 in Santander’s Social Enterprise Development Awards to help them expand.

REstore works with women who have suffered abuse, homelessness or long-term unemployment, providing one-to-one coaching, training in retail or customer service environments and work experience at craft fairs and market stalls.

The Santander award will be used by 'The 3R Project' to open a shop selling second-hand children’s clothes, toys and nursery furniture, widening the work experience and training opportunities for their clients.

Elizabeth White, Director, The 3R Project said: “Rochdale has some of the highest levels of unemployment amongst women as well as some of the most deprived wards in the country.

"The Santander award will help us to quickly establish an important retail presence in the area to provide children’s products to local families and where we can also offering training opportunities to those in need.”

Simon Carrier, Regional Director, Santander said: “We are delighted to support the vital work The 3R Project is doing and help them increase their reach.”
