REAG asks for enforcement of environmental laws
Date published: 05 November 2013
Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) is asking Rochdale Council to take immediate action by sending enforcement officers into hotspots for fly tipping.
REAG embarked on another clean up on Sunday 2 November and says it is finding it harder to change people’s attitudes towards fly tipping and throwing litter into streets, back alleys and open areas.
Their latest clean up saw the group clean Mere Street, Castlemere Street, Milkstone Road, Lake Street, Ann Street, Dowling Street, Devon Street, William Street, Essex Street, Sussex Street, Henry Street and Drake Street.
After the clean up, members of the group identified spots where dumping has taken place. They said they will be reporting these incidents of fly tipping to the council, as well as councillors responsible for the Milkstone and Deeplish area, with photographic evidence in the hope that "action will be taken".
