Rochdale Online moves to town

Date published: 03 November 2013

A local news organisation should have offices in the Town Centre and Rochdale Online has therefore chosen to relocate to 122 Yorkshire Street, Rochdale.

Managing Director Pauline Journeaux explains the reasoning behind the choice of town centre offices: "Rochdale Online started in Rochdale, has always been located in Rochdale, is staffed by people who live in Rochdale, and we believe to truly represent a community you have to be in the midst of it, not venturing in from 'outside', hence the first and easiest decision when we decided to relocate was we must remain in Rochdale.

"Choosing the town centre premises was borne of wanting to be at the heart of the town that has been the centre of Rochdale Online's purpose since its inception in 1998.

"Rochdale Online has built a reputation as a highly regarded and trustworthy source of local news and it is our aim to ensure that as the only locally based news office giving extensive coverage to local news and events, we continue to provide the high quality service our tens of thousands of readers have come to expect, and we are very much looking forward to doing so."

The future of the premises at 847-849 Manchester Road, Castleton is uncertain. Planning consent has been granted to convert the first and second floors into luxury residential apartments. The ground floor will remain commercial. Anyone interested in renting or buying the property should email Rochdale Online Director John Kay: jkay@molesworths.co.uk
