Metrolink times change causing concern

Date published: 02 November 2013

There have a number of time been changes since the Metrolink service to Rochdale commenced and Richard Greenwood , Chairman of STORM, has expressed his concern, particularly at some of the last trams being re-timed earlier.

Mr Greenwood said: "Most of these re-timeings are minor but there must be concern at some of the last trams being retimed earlier. Particularly on Sundays when the last tram from Victoria at 22.40 was already too early and the fact it is now 14 minutes earlier at 22.26 is not acceptable as it precludes anyone attending a concert or event in Manchester city centre using Metrolink rather than a private car.

"As a number of trams must be coming up to Rochdale as empty movements first thing in the morning, it is strange that Metrolink do not utilise at least one to carry passengers to Shaw for the warehouse shift change at 06:00.

"Even if the trams do not run via Victoria, they could carry passengers from Monsall onwards.

"We cannot say when these changes took place. They my change again when the service commences through to Rochdale Town Centre. What STORM does criticise is the apparent lack of publicity about them."
