Number One Riverside has won Building of the Year Award

Date published: 01 November 2013

Number One Riverside has been announced as the winner of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Building of the Year Award 2013.

The winner was revealed at the Chamber’s Property and Construction Annual Dinner, which took place last night (Thursday 31 October) at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.

Around 400 businesses attended the event, which saw the Number One Riverside building beat off stiff competition from three other finalists: ITV's new Coronation Street production centre at MediaCityUK, The Air Traffic Control Tower at Manchester Airport and The Pavilion at Lancashire County Cricket Club.

The Chamber’s Property and Construction Committee, which consists of 16 professionals from a range of businesses in the property and construction sector, invited nominations from everyone in the sector for the awards, and received many worthy entries for new buildings from across Greater Manchester.

Commenting on the winner of the Greater Manchester Building of the Year Award, Mike Gibson, Chairman of the Chamber’s Property and Construction Committee, said: “Number One Riverside was chosen because of its stunning design, its high sustainability credentials, its high quality of build, its role in enabling the Council to rationalise its offices across the borough and its contribution to the regeneration of Rochdale town centre.

“Rochdale should be proud of its new building that is at the forefront of design and sustainable technology and sets the standard for new office buildings across our region.”
