Firefighters use Lower Falinge flat for training exercise

Date published: 30 October 2013

Firefighters used flat in Lower Falinge for a training exercise on Thursday 10 October; two crews from Rochdale Fire Station used the empty flat for the training exercise.

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) have an agreement to work together; this arrangement helps to ensure that the risk of fire is reduced in RBH properties, and to increase fire safety awareness for tenants.

Louise Lowry-Davies, RBH Estate Manager for Lower Falinge, said: “We're delighted to be able to help our GMFRS colleagues with training exercises. I would encourage tenants to take advantage of the free Home Safety Check by calling 0800 555 815.”

Firefighter Nick Davis from Rochdale Fire Station said: “I would like to thank RBH for providing us with the venue as it provides realistic training and valuable information on the layout of the estate.

“This kind of training really gives us the opportunity to work out where best to position our appliances in the event of a real incident and hopefully our presence on the estate was reassuring for residents – who are offered free Home Safety Checks.”
