Welcome back to school after half term. We hope you have all had an enjoyable, relaxing break and are ready to work hard in the run-up to the Christmas holidays.

Some of our Year 11 students will be taking their GCSE Maths exams this week; Paper 1 on Wednesday 6 and Paper 2 on Friday 8. The students have been working and revising hard for these exams, we wish them luck.

Languages assessments will be taking place throughout the week for Year 10 students.

On Wednesday 6 November Year 9 Gifted pupils will take part in the Enterprise Day enrichment event. During this event they will work in teams to design, manufacture and market trophies. These trophies will be used at Celebration Evening and will be presented to the KS3 ‘Student of the Year’ for each faculty area.

Once the trophies have been designed and manufactured, the students will have to present their work in a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style interview. The teams will be judged on their pitch and there will be a winning team for this stage. The trophies will then go to a whole-school vote to decide on the winning design.

Pupils always enjoy this event and they have to employ many skills during the day such as creative thinking, time management and working as part of a team and therefore the event is a very good way of developing existing skills in a different context.

A Key Stage 4 Matters Evening will be taking place on Monday 11 November from 6:00pm until 7.30pm. We hope parents and carers of Year 10 and 11 students will be able to join us on the evening.

We will be hosting a Community Christmas Lunch on Wednesday 18 December, for members of our local community aged 65 and over.

We are currently looking for nominations of friends or family members of our school community who would like to attend the lunch.

If you would like to nominate any friends or family members who would like to go to the lunch or would like more information about the event, please contact the school’s Community Officer on 01706 645522.

Please be aware that nominations for the lunch need to be received by Friday 15 November.
