Car and two front doors deliberately set on fire

Date published: 28 October 2013

A car and two front doors were deliberately set on fire in Rochdale.

At about 11.30pm on Friday 25 October 2013, the front door of two homes on Vivian Street and a Toyota Land Cruiser were deliberately set alight.

The fires were quickly extinguished by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and no one was injured in the incident.

Detective Constable Russ Clarke, said: “This was an appalling incident which, without the quick response of the fire service, had a real potential to cause loss of life and extensive damage to several properties and vehicles.

“This is a family area with small children who could easily have found themselves trapped inside their own homes.

"I ask anybody who knows who is responsible for this, has any information about what took place or witnessed anything suspicious around the time of this offence to come forward and assist us with this investigation.

"Whilst we are not currently linking this to any other incidents, we are extremely keen to identify who is responsible and prevent any further incidents of a similar nature taking place.

“I would urge anyone with information to search their conscience and contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 8424 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
