Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival: Launch of the Edenfield Scrolls
Date published: 27 October 2013
Langley writers member and author Robin Parker launched his book, The Edenfield Scrolls this afternoon (Sunday 27 October) as part of the Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival at Rochdale Central Library.
As well as officially launching the book, Lancashire dialect specialist, Sid Calderbank gave a reading of four of the tales from the book to an audience at the main stage.
The Edenfield Scrolls is a collection of twelve anecdotal poems and was inspired by author Marriot Edgar.
Robin said: "If one biblical story could be made into something else then so could others."
Sid Calderbank performed four poems including Edenfield Scrolls, which tells the story of how the Garden of Eden was actually located in Edenfield, Joseph's Multi-Coloured Dream Trip and a tale of Noah's Ark which gives a new and
radical theory about the Ark.
Robin added: "I am really glad to have teamed up with Sid."
Sid said: "It has been my pleasure to work with Robin. I don't get many chances to work with material that is brand new in my work."
The book comes with a CD and is on sale for £11.99.
