Lights to be lit in memory of loved ones

Date published: 24 October 2013

The annual Lights of Love campaign allows people to dedicate a light on Christmas trees in Heywood, Wardle, Littleborough, Middleton and at Springhill Hospice.

Special dedication cards are placed on trees with the name of loved ones and to celebrate the dedications, three services will be held.

The first Lights of Love Service will take place at Rochdale Parish Church on Thursday 5 December at 6.30pm.

Alison McGuigan, Fund Raising Lead at Springhill Hospice, said: “This service lights the beautiful Parish Tree, and with carols supported by St Michael’s School Choir in the beautiful surroundings. This is a truly magical evening and a wonderful way to remember our loved ones who are no longer with us.”

On Sunday 15 December there will be two services at Springhill Hospice, led by Hospice Chaplain Andrew Hepworth, one at 3.00p.m and one at 6.00p.m.

Alison added: “Andrew held his first Lights of Love services last year, and they were very popular. It was nice to see Lights of Love return to Springhill Hospice, especially for those who are remembering loved ones that we cared for at Springhill.”

Alison concluded: “Lights of Love is not just to remember loved ones who we cared for at Springhill Hospice, it is a lovely way to remember all of our loved ones who cannot be with us during the festive season.”

If you would like to dedicate a light to a loved one, please contact the fund raising department at Springhill Hospice on 01706 649920.
