Reduce waste at halloween and bonfire parties

High quality peat-free compost called REVIVE
If you’re planning a Halloween or bonfire party, then with just a little thought, the waste you produce can be reduced, recycled or re-used.
Food leftovers in particular can be turned into tasty meals. When carving lanterns the pumpkin flesh can be used for a lasagne or soup and the seeds as a nibble. Sausage leftovers from firework party hot dogs can be turned into sausage risotto or stuffing.
Other food waste can be placed in food and garden waste bins at home for collection by the council to be turned into a high quality peat-free compost called REVIVE.
‘REVIVE’ is available to individuals, gardening clubs, allotments, and businesses to buy in 20L or 40L bags from one of 10 locations around Greater Manchester.
Consider the use of re-usable crockery and cutlery rather than disposable knives, forks and paper plates; remember, you can recycle all your drink cans and tins; glass jars and bottles and plastic bottles; plus empty clean foil trays and tin foil from those bonfire party baked potatoes in your mixed recycling bin.
If you’re still unsure about what you can recycle, want to know some handy hints and tips to reduce your waste and learn how you can save money as well, then please visit www.recycleforgreatermanchester.com
