Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Date published: 22 October 2013

Congratulations to all the students at St. Cuthbert’s who took part in this year’s school show ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ on Thursday 17, Friday 18 and Saturday the 19 October.

The performances were amazing and captivated the audience from start to finish, retaining all the wit, style and melodies of the original Broadway Musical. It was executed in an incredibly professional manner, which is rarely found amongst children of this age
Unsurprisingly, the performance was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part as evident from the extremely energetic atmosphere during the night.

Clearly all the children’s hard work and dedication has paid off with the tremendous response it has achieved. One parent commented ‘All the children were amazing and it was even better than I expected. The school should be very proud.’

A staggering amount of effort was also put into the show by teachers Mrs Knox, Mrs Maloney and Mrs Morris, who as a team were responsible for creating an entertaining evening full of colour, high energy and song and dance routines.

Joe Maloney, Year 9, played the lead performer Joseph in such a spectacular manner that the audience were left amazed at his tremendous talent. Georgia Taylor, Year 10 and Coral Bradley, Year 11, played the other lead parts, sharing the duty of the Narrator which was carried out superbly.

Lewis Reeves, one of Joseph’s brothers in the show and Coral are both in their final year at the school and have participated in many shows during the past five years. They explained how ‘the show means so much to us both because the cast are like a family to us. It has been incredible to be part of something this special during our time here at St. Cuthbert’s.’

It is events like the annual school production that contribute to the welcoming environment at the school. It is important that all pupils have the opportunity to be involved in extra curricular activities and the annual show offers everyone a wonderful chance to get involved in the life of the school. All members of the cast are important and made to feel included, an essential element to create such a successful show. The bar has certainly been set very high for next year!
