Parents Consultation meeting – What is replacing the Statement of Special Educational Need?

I will be writing to individual parents and carers to invite you to a meeting in November to discuss with you the plans to replace the Statement of Special Educational need which will start in September 2014. It is important that parents / carers understand the impact of the current legislation and how Redwood, the local authority and support services are working together in preparation.

Real Work Supported Internship Project based at Rochdale Infirmary

Colleague comments: “Nathan is working really hard especially with recognising different departments. He is working really hard reading labels on pigeon holes to allocate post then taking them to the various departments. He is really enjoying his placement and gets on really well with the other porters.”

Nathan’s comments: “I am beginning to sort the mail into correct pigeon holes which is helping me with my reading. I love working with the porters going round all the different departments of the hospital.”

A big Thank You to Farzana for taking time out of her Eid celebrations to share her special day with 8/9 Red bringing in lots of lovely food to eat: to experience the taste of Eid. A combined team effort, the group made an Eid Mubarak card for Farzana.

7 Red spent a morning in Manchester, they walked over the stepping stones outside Selfridges and over to the Arndale. They spent time in the Lego shop making model witches. The lovely lady from the shop gave the pupils a free Lego kit and certificate. Big special thanks go to that lady in the Lego store for kindness, generosity and understanding. Next they went to the Apple store and played on the ipads, then into Waterstones relaxing area to choose and look at the books. After a busy morning they enjoyed snacks and drinks on the way back to school.

A great start for our ‘new & young’ team!
