Woolly sheep hunt comes to Rochdale

Date published: 21 October 2013

Rochdale Town Centre Chaplin Margaret Smith and members of the Salvation Army are creating a woolly sheep hunt to take place throughout Rochdale Town Centre in December.

The competition involves people finding woolly sheep in shops located in the town centre. Each sheep has its own name and people are given clues to locate the sheep. The person who finds the most sheep will be the winner.

Town Centre Chaplin, Margaret Smith said: “It is something that will hopefully help the local shops as well as get people excited for Christmas.”

The woolly sheep have all been hand knitted by Margaret and members of the Salvation Army.

Margaret added: “We have good shops in Rochdale and this is hopefully a good way to encourage people into those shops.”

The hunt will begin in the first weekend in December and a number of shops have already signed up to be involved with the competition.

“I will be visiting shops in the next few weeks to encourage people to get involved but we had a lot of interest from people at the High Street Borough Foundation” added Margaret.

This is the first time the hunt will be running throughout Rochdale.

Winners of the competition will receive a complimentary sheep and a mystery prize.

If you are interested in taking part in the competition please contact Margaret Smith at the chaplaincy 07758 877 563 or pick up an entry form from participating shops.
