Multi-vehicle accident on M62 at Heywood/Middleton
Date published: 20 October 2013
A multi-vehicle accident has occurred on the westbound carriageway of the M62 at the Heywood/Middleton junction (J19).
Two lanes are closed and traffic queues stretch back beyond Junction 20 A627(M) Rochdale (4.00pm).
Traffic trying to enter the motorway at junction 19 is being diverted.
Rochdale Online football reporter, Martin Culshaw witnessed the aftermath of the accident, he said: " I saw this literally seconds after it happened but I was heading in the opposite direction. There was a crash on the east bound carriageway too. The west bound crash is actually several different incidents within a very short distance."
Thirteen vehicles were involved. Three people were taken to hospital, however, it is understood no one has been seriously hurt.
