The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) has been appointed as the NHS’ first Investors in People Champion (IiP) and has also scooped the ‘Management Team of the Year Award’ at the first Chartered Management Institute (CMI) National Management and Leadership Awards.
IiP Champions are a group of role model organisations, drawn from the private, public and third sector, who, by implementing IiP have improved their performance. As an IiP Champion, the Trust has committed to sharing its knowledge and IiP experience to support other organisations in exploring the IiP framework.
The CMI is the only chartered body in the UK that awards management and leadership qualifications. The prestigious annual awards celebrate the achievements and expertise of the UK’s best managers and management teams.
NWAS was chosen to receive the accolade from a strong field of both private, public organisations from across the UK.
The Awards judge organisations, teams and individual managers by looking at issues including financial success, governance, people management, communications, ethics, sustainability and learning.
Michael Forrest, Acting Director of Organsiational Development, said: “We are delighted with these two recent achievements. The whole team has worked extremely hard over the past few years, to ensure we have a skilled and engaged workforce and this has been duly recognised by these prestigious awards and achievements over the years.
The announcement of these most recent achievements follows the series of awards the Trust has received over the last two years: Investors in People ‘Gold, NWAS Staff Awards ‘Team of the Year finalists’, Health Education North West Adult Learners Week’s ‘Supporting Learners in Practice in Health & Social Care Award’ and the Investors in People ‘Health & Wellbeing Award’.
