Date published: 18 October 2013
Co-Founder of Rochdale Business Curry Club, Brendan Burke completed the Coniston 14 half marathon on Saturday 12 October raising money for Curry Club co-founder Steve Dooley.
Brendan completed the half marathon in 2 hours 6 minutes and 30 seconds, beating his target of 2 hours 10 minutes.
He said: “It went really well. It was really enjoyable and I am glad I did it.”
Brendan is currently unsure of the exact total raised but said: “I would be happy with anything really. Anything is helpful for Steve and his family.”
Steve suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2011 and is currently cared for by Millfield Nursing & Residential Care Home and his mother and sister.
The Coniston half marathon is Coniston’s largest annual community event. Each year the race attracts 1,600 runners and is known as being one of the best organised small races in the country.
Brendan added: “I felt brilliant for the first 11 miles but the last three were hard going. To get over the finish line in the time I did was brilliant.”
