Eid Mubarak

Thank you to those parents who complied with our request to take one day in observance of Eid. Hope you and your family had a lovely day.

Sacramental programme

All children and their parents on Sacramental programme – very important it is their presentation at St John’s church on Sunday morning at 9.30am. The children must be there if they are to make their First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Mission week

Mission week all next week – there will be a short assembly every morning from 9am to 9.25am and all parents, grandparents and carers are invited to attend on any of the mornings. Mission week marks the end of the ‘Year of Faith’.

Early bird week

Next week is ‘early bird’ week. We are aiming for high rates of punctuality next week and hopefully from then on after half term. The children will be rewarded with ‘smilies’ for being in school on time.

Admission to secondary school

Please remember to return your applications for secondary school no later than Thursday 31 October. All class 6 will have received an application form from the school to complete and return, if you need any help to complete the form, we are holding a drop in session between 2pm to 3pm on Monday 21 October in the school hall.

Admission to primary school

It is very important that you complete an application form for admission to primary school (you will have received one from nursery class). If your child is attending St John’s nursery and you do not apply for a place in our Reception class; you may well not get a place.

Children born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010 will start primary school in September 2014. The closing date for admissions is 15 January 2014.

Clog dancing

As part of the Rochdale and Ideas Festival to be held on Saturday, 26 October, four of our children from year six will be performing a clog dance to represent the rhythm of machinery from the days of cotton mill weaving looms.

The festival will be held at number 1 Riverside, Smith Street (new council building).

Robinwood activity weekend

All children going to Robinwood will leave on Friday morning 25 October and will return to St. John’s 2.30pm on Sunday, 28 October.

Highest attendance

Highest attendance award went once again to Da Vinci class for week commencing 7 September.

Golden book awards

The Golden Book awards are for children have tried their best in all areas with politeness and respect.
