People's Art is back at Touchstones
Date published: 23 September 2013
The ever popular annual art exhibition giving local people the opportunity to exhibit in their local gallery at Touchstones Rochdale will be officially opened by the Mayor, Councillor Peter Rush, on Saturday 28 September at 2pm.
After the success of the exhibition in 2012, People's Art returns with another vibrant display of work by people who live or work in areas across the borough including Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood, Littleborough and Milnrow.
The exceptional talent of local people has again been brought to the fore, with almost 200 paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings and craft objects on display from 28 September to 23 November. Many artworks in the exhibition are for sale.
Visitors to the exhibition can vote for their favourite artwork in the 'People's Choice' award. The artist with the most votes at the end of the exhibition will be awarded a selection of art materials.
There are also a whole host of hands-on activities for younger visitors to have a go at within the exhibition. Known as the Art Paddock, the space is full of creative activities based around colour, shape and pattern for budding artists of the future.
Admission is free. Touchstones Rochdale is managed by the Link4Life Cultural Trust and is located on The Esplanade, Rochdale, OL16 1AQ. We are open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm.
